Sharing The Love | My Favourite Blogs

For today's post I wanted to share with you some of my favourite blogs from some of my favourite bloggers that have become good friends of mine. If you're not already following them then what are you waiting for!

Although not my usual read of a beauty blog, Lauren writes about her life and her family and I just have to say how cute are Athena & Arlo. Not having children myself I love being on the journey with her and seeing her children grow up.

One of the many things I admire about Carries blog is her photography. Alongside the impeccable content is what makes her blog one of the best I've read.

Lauras fashion posts are some of my favourites. If you read any of her posts make sure you check out her DIY creations. I especially enjoyed reading her Jewellery Storage post as this is something I need in my life. Also can't wait to see her wedding pictures!

I love the mixture of posts on Lyndsays blog. From crafting to beauty you get a bit of everything. And check out her latest post from the Brighton Foodies Festival... PUG PUPPY!!

Again another blog with a whole mixture of various posts. Lilla has one of the best written blogs I've come across and some gorgeous pictures to go alongside.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Lola And Behold is my favourite blog! Lauras posts are so easy to read yet at the same time so informative. Clear pictures with interesting text makes for a blog I love to read.

First off, LOVE Rosies blog name! Along with beauty posts she incorporates fitness posts which is great inspiration for me to try and get fit again!!

I love Sophies blog! I love the layout, the colour scheme and obviously most important the content. And the girl takes a good selfie!!

If you have any favourite blogs, leave links in the comments below!

Blog Post Feature: Sport Luxe

The thought of roaming the streets of London dressed as a basket/baseball player never seemed to appeal to us. The likes of Isabel Marant and Marc Jacobs however, introduced a fresh new wave of sport luxe that intertwined pure androgyny with classic femininity. Perusing through magazines and blogs envisioned us with new takes on gym class dressing. The integration of baggy Troy Bolton-esque sweatshirts and classic peep-toe courts opened our eyes to a world were work wear was interlaced with evening gym classes. What could possibly be more convenient?

Take this oversized baseball jacket, for example; something we certainly wouldn’t consider to echo femininity and classic dressing, but combine with courts, or womanly wedged trainers, and any scent of masculinity has long been forgotten. Unless you’re advocating towards the let’s-play-basketball vibe (which we’re certainly not), erasing parts of boyishness has never been simpler. Still clinging on to your longstanding they-sit-at-the-back-of-my-wardrobe tracksuit bottoms? Ever thought of giving them a wash (a must) and piecing them with black patent courts? Bloggers and editors alike are embracing the gym-wear-as-outerwear trend. (Top secret: it’s right on trend) Shh.

Shopping trips now heavily result in a private sneak at what the sports aisle and men’s section has to offer. No, we don’t take Our Father or boyfriends, or Granddad, we simply peruse the aisles for our own satisfaction.

Although androgyny is taking the fashion world by storm this season (see Balenciaga and Dolce and Gabbana), fresh floral envisions that shy away from sweaty basket ballers (no offence if that’s your kind of game) evoke new tangs whereby flowers can become part of your gym kit. No doubt will we always name ourselves fans of the style that coheres boyishness with pure femininity, however this new idea whereby we can actually retain pretty floriated garments but still go for a lunch-time jog is a breath of fresh air. Literally.

Forget the haunted primary school P.E lessons and delve into a world were jogging, work and drinks attire become one. Okay, so if you can’t, or won’t, wear wedged trainers to work then just take some spare courts in your bag for later. Simple. Get your game on.

Be sure to check out their blog over at LW.

Thanks girls for being my first ever Guest Bloggers!

#BtonBloggerMeet

I intended to get this post up yesterday as it marked exactly 1 week until the Brighton Blogger Meet which I am soooooo excited for but a few things came up last night and I was unable to get it up in time.

(Photo Courtesy of Laura from LolaandBehold.)

So I just wanted to write a quick brief post about how excited I am for the upcoming bloggers meet. I've met so many lovely girls so far from down these neck of the woods and it's going to be lovely to meet even more. I've read so many posts about the London meet up and the North meet up that its just got me ready and excited for our meetup. I know there has been a bit of controversy about meet ups and goodie bags but for me it's really not about that for me. Yes I'm a human being so of course the chance of a goodie bag is an amazing bonus but I just want to meet with girls and boys who share my interests and obsessions with all things beauty!

I've added a lot of the girls on twitter already so it should be interesting putting a face to the twitter conversations! Look out for a blog post about the meet up after next weekend.

Brighton Benefit #FakeUp Bloggers Event

Today I am bringing you guys an exciting post. It's taken me a while to find some time to write this but I'm so happy I've found this spare time to let you all know about my experience of my very first bloggers event.
So many bloggers events are held up in London which although is only a train ride away..
1. Is quite an expensive train ride
and
2. Are usually on when I'm working.
So when I heard that Benefit were coming to Brighton I simply couldn't miss out! I had started to contact some other local bloggers (to my surprise I didn't realize how many local bloggers there were!) and soon enough I was excited to be meeting some lovely girls.
I met up with Laura from LolaAndBehold before hand which was lovely as I had no clue where I was going.
The event was held upstairs in a lovely bar called 'The Mesmerist' and the decor theme was that of an old school detective pad. With benefit fake up pillows (which I'm sure a fair few of us wanted to take home) displayed across the chairs and old typewriters and magnifying glasses on the tables, I knew I was going to have an amazing time. I met some more lovely bloggers when we arrived like Sophie from SophieRoseHearts, Rosie from Everything's Rosie, Lilla from Lilla Loves and someone who I've been following for a while Lauren from BelleDuBrighton. To start us off we had a little briefing of what the night was going to entail and then the lovely Lisa Potter-Dixon (I was a tad starstruck after watching her on QVC all the time!) she gave us the info on the newest product from Benefit their 'Fake Up' hydrating concealer. She then demonstrated how to apply the concealer in the best possible way.

We were then shown other products such a 'Fine One One' and 'Hello Flawless'. Both of which have been on my wishlist for a while now. We then were colour matched in the 'Hello Flawless' as we were told that we would each be receiving one in out goodie bag.

Sophie from SophieRoseHearts getting colour matched

After everyone had been matched we had a little pop quiz and to my surprise I actually won, I never win anything. I was kindly given one of their new eyeshadow palettes which I will have a review of up shortly. Some gorgeous food and drink were served as well. We got a little hooked on the sweet potato fries and the drink was a lovely vodka fruity cocktail.

In our goodie bag we were kindly gifted all 3 shades of their new 'Fake Up' concealer which is released on the 30th March and will cost £18.50. I will have a separate post on these. We were also given the 'Hello Flawless' powder foundation.

I didn't take many photos and I totally regret it too. The next event I will definitely be getting snappy happy!

I had a lovely time and can't wait to meet up with all the lovely girls again. I'm sorry I haven't mentioned everyone in this post but if you was there and I've missed you out please leave a comment below!

John Greed Jewellery's Valentine’s Day Blogger Challenge

After the success of their Pandora Blogger Challenge John Greed Jewellery has decided to do another Blogger Challenge, this time around Valentine's Day and on everything on their site. 1 Blogger will win the chance to win every jewellery item they wish for for Valentine's Day. So what do we have to do?

To qualify to win just create a mood board with all your favourite pieces of jewellery from the site that you would love to get for Valentine's Day up to the value of £250. You must have a minimum of 4 items. So onto my selection...

The reason I picked this comes with a little story. A couple of years ago I really wanted a Pandora bracelet but could never afford one. Then after a while I realized how many people had them and for some reason this completely turned me off them. Then I got a Thomas Sabo bracelet for my 21st from my sister. It felt unique because not a lot of people I know own or have even heard of the brand. This bracelet is different to the one I own so it will be nice to have it.

So the reason behind this is I only own one nice quality ring which I wear all the time. I bought it for myself from Greece way back in 2008 whilst on holiday. Apart from cheap statement rings from Primark I don't own anything else. After browsing the rings I came across the Pandora ones. I've never seen a lot of people wearing the Pandora rings as obviously they are well known for their bracelets. But I'm into darker jewellery and loved the stone in this specific ring.

I promise not everything is Pandora! But again like the Pandora ring I don't own a massive amount of earrings. This is most down to the fact that any cheap earrings that aren't silver irritate my ears and they end up getting infected... I know disgusting right! So I own a pair of Tresor Paris earrings but find I get bored of them if I wear them everyday. I'm hopefully going to buy some more in different colours soon. So I spotted these cute little silver and white earrings and would most definitely like to have these in my collection.

To go with my Charm bracelet I picked out I chose this and one other charm. This charm speaks volumes to me as I suffer majorly from confidence. So when I look at this charm it kinda tells me that it's ok to be me, myself and I! I know this means differently to others, almost being alone I guess but I choose to use it as a positive meaning.

I thought I'd complete the package with a necklace. And to go with the whole Valentine's theme of course I picked a heart pendant. I currently wear a heart necklace that my mum and dad got for my for my 16th birthday from Argos (oh man that was way back in 2006 a whole 7 years ago!!). So of course it's sentimental to me but I would like to have a different option.

As I said earlier I can only really wear silver earrings long term as they don't irritate and infect my ears but I couldn't pass up these cuties. And at such a bargain price who would pass them up. Rose Gold being the big thing right now especially with the infamous Rose Gold Michael Kors Watch I think these would look cute for a day out.

This is the other charm I chose to go with the bracelet and the simple reason I chose this was I love birthstones and anything that represents the month I was born. I love that my birthstone is Ruby!

I hope you like my choices, I thought I would struggle to write my reasons like I normally do but I think I managed to do alright!
The competition ends tomorrow (14th February) so if you haven't already entered quickly go check out the rules HERE and get to it!!

What would you like for Valentine's Day?

The Beauty Bloggers Tag

YAY! I'm back. The festive period didn't mean a nice break for me. As I work at Gatwick Airport it meant I unfortunately had to work all over Christmas and New Year!! So sorry for the lack of posts. I will resume as normal from now! I will have a What I Got For Christmas post up super soon I promise. I know I'm a little late with this post but I figured better late then never hey! So thank you to Sophia over at Tattooed Tea Lady for creating this lovely tag for us beauty bloggers to do!

Why did you start blogging and how long have you been blogging for?
Well my first blog post was way back in June 2009. But I was never seriously into it until 2012. So it's been 3 years theoretically but I only count from 2012 so I say 7 months.

Whose blog did you fall in love with first?
I'm probably going with the majority here when I say who I first started reading. They are all really popular beauty bloggers now days and I still love reading and learning from their blogs as much as I did when I first found them.

Zoe over at Zoella
Milly over at Pearls and Poodles
Laura over at Belles Boutique

What was the first blogosphere hyped about product you bought and was it worth the hype?
The first hyped product I bought which was worth it would probably be Rimmels Wake Me Up foundation and concealer. I am still very much in love with both these items and still use them today. They have become my holy grail products.

What are your favourite five things about blogging and being a beauty blogger?
First things first is the fact I get to talk about all things makeup and beauty to my hearts content without feeling like I'm boring anyone to death. I can talk hours on end about my favourite products or new findings without people thinking I'm crazy or obsessed (which lets face it I am!!)

When I write about a certain product which I love and I get comments saying how they have gone out and purchased said product especially when people haven't liked a product but have given it a second try after reading my blog.

I love that I have managed to discover so many great new products just by being a beauty blogger. And that most are all high street products which I don't think I would of tried if it hadn't been for beauty blogs.

Which leads onto the beauty blogging community. When I first started my blog, none of my friends were really into beauty products or makeup like I was so I never really had anyone I could chat to about my obsession. The beauty blogging community has become a huge part of my life and although I haven't met any of the lovely boys and girls I chat to I feel like they are all like my closest friends.

The interaction between bbloggers is amazing. Through Twitter and Facebook I get to chat to some lovely people and follow their beauty obsessions. I've discovered so many new blogs through twitter and I love that I get to chat to my followers.

What have you learnt from being a beauty blogger?
I've learnt so many things since becoming a beauty blogger! I would probably say the most I've learnt is you shouldn't base your opinions on others. Just because other bloggers like or dislike a product doesn't mean I will or won't.

Have you changed anything since being a beauty blogger?
I have probably changed the way I use products. I have learnt so many tips and tricks I never knew before blogging. How or where I think a product should be used, can be used 10 other ways on 10 other places of the face/body.

What advice would you give to a beauty blogger just starting out?
It's not a scary place. Communicate with other bloggers and don't feel pressured! Blog when you want to don't feel like you HAVE to. It's not fun when it feels like it's turned into a job!

Name your top five brands!
This is a hard one...
-MAC
-Rimmel
-Laura Mercier
-Benefit
-OPI

Recommend your top five favourite beauty products!
Again very hard...
-Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation & Concealer (I'm counting these as 1!)
-Any MAC Lipsticks
-Any OPI/Essie/China Glaze polishes
-Cetaphil Cleanser
-Benefit Box O Blushers

Tag other beauty bloggers to do this tag!
I tag anyone who wants to do this, and let me know when you have so I can check out your answers!!
