NOTD: Essie - Bikini So Teeny

A few posts ago I showed you a little Essie haul that I recently did. So when I was getting ready for work and I had to choose a polish to wear, I knew straight away it had to be one of my new Essie. That's where I hit a brick wall, what colour should I choose? That's probably the hardest thing I find about painting my nails, I can never choose what colour and I sit and ponder for ages before finally deciding on one. So being that it's actually been warm this week I went with 'Bikini So Teeny'.

It's the most gorgeous sky blue / periwinkle colour. Perfect for the spring/summer season and definitely one for the fingers and toes. Imagine this on your toes in a pair of sparkly flip flops, amazing right? It has a subtle shimmer in it which is the hardest thing to capture on camera. I always find it hard to describe nail polishes but the word that comes to mind when I look at this is creamy (crazy, I know!). I'm not sure if this shade is still available as it was part of the 2012 Summer Collection but after a quick search it still comes up on the Superdrug website so try on their if all else fails. They cost £7.99 but if your looking for a cheaper alternative then try Barry M's 'Prickly Pear' from their Gelly Hi Shine range as it's the closest I've found so far.

(Please excuse the poor paint job, it has been on my nails for 4 days with no top coat as I need to buy a new one!)

Do you own this colour? Or have you found any similar colours?

NOTD | Glitter Manicure

In my previous nail post I showed you that I had painted my nails with Rimmel 'Aye, Aye Sailor' which is a gorgeous deep blue. I don't know about you guys, sometimes I love the colour of my polish but can get a bit bored but don't want to actually change my polish. Queue flicking through Instagram when I came across a picture on Lo Bosworths account. In case your not aware who she is, if you watched 'Laguna Beach' or 'The Hills' or know of Lauren Conrad (and lets face it who in the beauty community doesn't) then Lo is her best friend and appeared in both programs. Anyway back to my point, she had posted a picture of her manicure in which she had glitter tips. Unlike hers I had no fine glitter to hand so I found my next best alternative, my new glitter polish from Poundland in 'Gold'. Now I know they aren't perfect but it was a rushed job and it was my first attempt. What do you think?

My only disappointment was that it was really difficult to get the actual glitter onto my nail. Most the time I managed to get a whole gloop of clear polish and very little glitter. If anyone has any suggestions on any better polishes which would be easier to use, please leave a comment below so I can try it out.

NOTD | Back To Black

Okay so they aren't black as per say but I couldn't think of a better title for this post. As much as I am loving the pastel nails I felt like I wanted a bit of a change. Maybe it's to do with the major snow we had last night and today but I wanted to go for a dark colour. I showed this polish in my last post (My Nail Polish Haul) so decided on this midnight blue colour.

I always use my OPI Nail Envy as my base coat. This was 2/3 coats and finished off with my Rimmel top coat. I love this polish for the pure fact at how fast it dries. As I've mentioned before the only thing I hate about doing my nails is the waiting about for them to dry properly so I don't get that sheet print on them when I go to bed! So the fact that these polishes are touch dry in 60 seconds is a god send!

NOTD | Pastel Princess

With it staying lighter for longer in the evenings you would expect it to start to warm up soon but with the fact we had MORE snow today I can't see this happening just yet. So to get me in the mood for Spring I thought I would ditch the dark colours and cheer myself up with some Pastels.
Today's particular colour was Barry M Gelly Hi Shine 'Prickly Pear'*. I'm loving all the different brands releasing their spring colours and it's quite obvious that this year its the year of pastels! I love the Barry M Ice Cream colours that were released in 2010 and still use them but I can see them being replaced with the Gelly Hi Shine finishes!
I don't use a top coat when I wear these polishes as the Hi Shine finish stays true to it's name and gives off enough shine that I don't feel I need to add to it.
All Barry M polishes are available from Superdrug, Boots and their own site Here.

Do you own any of the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine polishes?
